LOL
that same person I talked about sent me a message asking me to not write to them anymore. I guess people get kind of snippy when you show others what they really are about.

While there are those who would rather horde casting information for their own gain, I believe in the true spirit of aloha especially amongst us actors. Which I believe was Teddy's intent when he created this site. So with that, I offer you all the casting information for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"

Principal Casting:
Francine Maisler Casting
10202 W. Washington Blvd.
Sidney Poitier Building Suite 3200
Culver City, CA 90232

Extras Casting:

Also, casting for Hawaii Five-O

Break a leg everyone!

Got some filming done this weekend on "Route 666: The Devil's Highway."
My wife, Faith, is playing a ghost as are two of my daughters. Can't wait for the film to be finished, hopefully in time for the Big Island Film Festival.

I would like to see some postings here from those who live on the Big Island and direct/produce films. We konw there are plenty of actors here, so let's start seeing who actually makes films. Let's network and see what we can accomplish in 2010!

I know it's been quite a while since I posted here and being the one who created this group I feel a responsibility to monitor and maintain this page.
That being said, I would like to address some issues I have with some of the things I have read not only on this page, but on others here as well.
First, anyone who has been an actor for more than a year will tell you it's a tough gig. You see the big stars who make millions and you say to yourself, "why not me?" And why not you? Any actor has the same chance of being a top earning movie star as the next actor. But the reality is that there are literally thousands of other actors in L.A. and N.Y. right now who have the same dream and the same goals. For every Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts there are a thousand no-name actors who are working in bars, restaurants, coffee houses, etc. while taking acting classes and going on auditions right now. And they live in the epicenters of the acting industry. Bottom line, if you really want to make a career out of being an actor you have to move to L.A. Read the bios of successful actors and you will see that virtually every one of them made their way to L.A. to find work. You are not going to become a famous or highly successful actor living in Hawaii.
Second, you MUST learn to act in order to be an actor. Granted, there are those who have become successful without attending drama schools or claim they never had any "formal training", but they are the exception, not the rule. And most of them pretty much lucked their way into acting. Think about it. If you were running a business and needed a skilled worker. Would you just hire any schmo off the street who lacked any kind of training or experience? Of course not! Your money and reputation is riding on that person. Besides, acting classes and workshops is where you make potential connections with people in the industry. Look at Scott Rogers over on Oahu. He teaches various classes at his school and has the hook up with casting directors who come to Oahu looking for actors. Now, I would love to see acting classes and workshops like that here on the Big Island. And if anyone knows of any, please post them on this page.
Bottom line is pissing and moaning about the lack of acting work, the lack of projects on this island and the necessity of actually training to be an actor will not get you anywhere. Look, it's no secret the Big Island is no acting mecca. But there is the Big Island Film Festival and there are plenty of amateur independent film makers right here on this island who are looking for people who have passion for acting. That's why I created this group. So that we can all connect with each other and create films that we can be proud of.
