Has 3D film lost its lustre already? Just 38% of cinemagoers choose to watch Pirates Of The Caribbean with specs on.

Figures down from 80% who watched Avatar in 3D upon its release in 2009

Movie fans in US and UK don't want to pay extra for the 3D experience

Right now foreign lands are more attractive for such high-tech endeavors because of lower taxes and less onerous regulatory compliance. Also, people are tired of TSA, which keeps them away from Hawaii. Such governmental idiocy is difficult to overcome but I do not think it will last much longer, at which point I see Hawaii have a new high-tech boom.

aloha Michael, nice to meet you. You are right, we have many talents in Hawaii but not enough company or platform for artists to grow. My mentor was Remington Scott, he was the motion-capture director for final fantasy and he did Golum for LOTR, we have many interns from the ACM program. The talents are here, but the industry is not.

We actually have a pretty decent local talent pool in Hawaii, between veterans of Final Fantasy, game development, the UH Manoa's Academy for Creative Media.

Hi Nicolas, before you dive into digital sculpting. First, you must have a basic understanding in polygon modeling. The demo head you use in zbrush does not have enough polygon to make such changes. You can keep pull out the shape but there is not enough "pixol" to continue sculpting. At this point, you have two choices, one is to sub-divide it many times to get enough pixol (like 10million) which I don't encourage to do it because it stills create un-even flow and edge loop. Another choice is to re-topologize it to have a better edge loop and normalized the surface flow. Digital sculpting is a complex subject which I can't tell you everything in a few sentences. i will fb you later.

Thank you all very much for joinning this group, I created this group because the film industry in Hawaii is blooming but the CG industry is still at the infant stage. I hope that by creating this group, I can get to know more local artists and film makers who are interested in using CGI in their film. And hopefully create more CG jobs and opportunities for local artists.
