Hawaii's Only Film Industry Network
Onipa'a" is a senior thesis short film. The story is set in 1790, and covers the mental and emotional preparations of the Chief Kalaniküpule and his men in the 36 hours before Kamehameha’s attack on the island of Maui.
*Note: This is a Hawaiian language film, but we are accepting ALL applicants!
The story's eight characters are listed below:
1) Chief (Kalanikupule) (m) - 30s-60s - old, wise, and strong
2) Koalau (m) - 20s-40s - young but proficient, second-in-command
3) Runner (m) - 20s-40s - quick and lean, a marathon-runner
4) Kalola (f) - 20s-50s - large, powerful, high-ranking chiefess
5) Handmaiden (f) - 20s-40s - thin, quiet, subservient
6-8) 3 Warrior Chiefs - 20s-50s - professional fighters in lua (Hawaiian martial art)
We will be holding auditions in central Maui this on 11/6-7. Sides will be provided and actors will have time to look them over before the audition. Interested applicants can email luz.kaiolani@gmail.com.
