Special Skills
Albert J Cloutier is a completely self-taught independent filmmaker. Since starting his own production company, only four years ago in 2008, he has produced 4 documentary films and a short narrative film. These films have won multiple awards at The Bare Bones Film Festival, The Honolulu Film Awards, The Accolade Awards, The Indie Fest, the the Green Lifestyle Film Festival. His commercial footage has appeared on the WE Channel Network, The Discovery Channel, and on local Hawaii televison.

As Writer, Director, Cinematographer, and Editor, Albert says he is really just indulging his penchant for spinning yarns and telling stories.

Albert was born and raised in New Hampshire. He spent 20 years in Texas, kayak fishing in the Gulf of Mexico quite successfully, and riding horses very poorly. Happily he no longer walks with a cane and seldom smells like dead fish.

Free Film School - Lesson 3 - Confessions of a Gizmoholic

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 12:23pm 0 Comments

In this installment of Free Film School, we're going to discuss a subject that Independent Filmmakers will often wax rhapsodic about when given half the chance. And most of us would rather fight than switch. It's sort of similar to a boozer expounding on the virtues of Single Malt Scotch to Anejo Tequila. We're talking about Video Equipment Addiction. Yes, that's right. Cameras are our technological drug of choice, and receiving a delivery…

Lesson 2 - Action!

Hi boys 'n girls! This here is the second installment of free film school. In this lesson, we're going to deal with what is probably the single most important thing to making you a successful filmmaker; actually getting off of your duff, picking up a camera and just doing it!

Matter of fact, if you already have a camera of some sort, why don't you take a little break and go out and shoot something. Go ahead!…

Now, why would we do such a thing for free? Well, because we're sweethearts. Because we love you and want you to succeed in this sometimes tricky and crazy thing called The Film…

Hi Al, hope all is well. This is Jason, I contacted you awhile back about filming my short "Fade Away". Sorry I never got back to you about the project, had to scrap it, was a little too complicated for me at the time. Did do another short "Too Save A Life" (trailer on my page). Just wanted to see how everything is going and apologize for that.

I believe that I am the only sideshow performer in Hawaii. I created Hawaii Sideshow Collective to find others to work with, but have yet to find any. I created Pandemonium which is a one man (Professor Pandemonium), 10 in one show. I do the classics; human blockhead, mental floss, tong in mouse trap, bed of nails, walk on glass, you get the point (no pun intended). As a preserving the past historian of the sideshow I would like to help. And let me know if you find other sideshow performers. We are greater in numbers.

hey brother how things going. have some good news, found a gym that'll let me film there, in the process of getting the permits i need for it. IT'S VERY EXCITING, can't wait to actually get to work. also glad that's 1 less thing to worry about. quick question. are there any class rooms or anything on UH (or any place for that matter) that i could use to hold auditions? thank you for your help and talk to you soon. Also, what did you think bout the script? it's a little rough but should clear that up in re-writes. Ok later.
