Happy Power Thursday!  Get those reading glasses out to read my interview with MyPearlCity.com's editor Barry Villamil about my recent acting experiences joining AFTRA, and working on the CBS series Hawaii Five-O.  I'd like to thank Barry for his time, and my Pearl City High School for always being my rock!  <3

Ps

I just learned from my agent when your with AFTRA you can't do TV commercials or something like that, Im not totally clear on this so you may want to talk to an agent or something...

You get alot of bumps when your part of AFTRA. (Bumps - Paid additional for costume, EFX, driving distance etc.) Sometimes when your a BG you may get the opportunity to do more and if your in the union they pay you for it, it happened to me many times I was lucky that the casting director told me to get it prior to the roles. Eventually you want to keep doing this it is something you should get but thats totally up to you and where you want to go with your acting career. Good luck!!!

Can you share your thoughts on the pros/cons of joining AFTRA ? Is it worth it for background work? I've done LOST, HAWAII 5-0, and SOUL SURFER, plus local TV commercials.  Thanks, Monica
